Bistline Bridge

The Bistline Bridge, also known as Flickinger Mills Bridge, is a single-span Burr Arch Truss bridge built in 1871 (builder unknown). The structure has Burr Arches sandwiched between multiple Kingposts, is 106 feet long by 17 feet 3 inches wide, and has an interior height of 11 feet 7 inches. The planking is 2 inches by 16 feet, with the top planking laid diagonally. Reinforced in 1919 with steel I-beams, the bridge was refurbished in 2007. The Bistline Bridge spans Sherman’s Creek in Madison Township CR3005 near Andersonburg and is owned by Perry County.

From Harrisburg: Interstate 81 take exit 67. Take Rt 322/22 approximately 20 miles to the Exit for Newport and New Bloomfield. Turn left at the end of the exit ramp onto Rt 34.

Travel 1 mile and cross the Juniata River on the old Iron Bridge, continuing straight through town (Market St) to the stop sign at the corner of 4th and Market St. Turn left and continue on Rt 34 for 5 miles to New Bloomfield.

At the Square in New Bloomfield, continue straight through on Rt 274. Travel approximately 16.3 miles to Andersonburg. Turn left at the crossroad on T3005 and proceed to a dead end. Turn right onto Madison Road. The bridge is about 1 mile down the road.
